3 Days. 1 Herd. Real Leadership Shift.
Elephant Leadership Camps held their May 2026 Camp this week.
Over three days at Center Parcs Woburn Forest, a group of individuals from different backgrounds, industries, and all corners of the country came together as strangers and left as something more powerful: a connected, self-aware, and confident leadership group.
This wasn’t classroom learning. It never is.
It was real, immersive, occasionally uncomfortable, often energising, and always impactful. Experiential leadership development at its best.
The Herd
The May 2026 cohort brought together a brilliant mix of personalities, experiences, and perspectives.
We welcomed representatives from two major clients, XPerience and British Steel, alongside TrailBlazers from businesses and charities spanning marketing, HR consultancy, mental health, beauty, and more; a seriously diverse group.
From the outset, there was a willingness to lean in, contribute, and support one another.
By halfway through Day 1, polite introductions had already given way to honest conversations. By Day 3, the group dynamic had evolved into trust, challenge, and genuine support.
The Journey
Day 1 – Discomfort & Discovery
Day 1 is where expectations meet reality.
Delegates were quickly taken out of their comfort zones and into situations that required them to embrace challenge, speak up under pressure, and turn a group of strangers into a functioning team.
Early leadership behaviours became visible - both strengths and development areas.
For many, this was the first realisation:
Leadership isn’t about theory, intention, or hierarchy. It’s about behaviour.
(And yes… confidence took a few knocks before it started to rebuild.)
Day 2 – Challenge & Breakthrough
Day 2 is where things get real.
As trust built, conversations deepened and, interestingly, became easier. The team dynamic began to outweigh individual thinking. Delegates challenged and supported each other in equal measure. Pressure was no longer something to avoid, it became something to work with.
Behaviours that helped or hindered progress were surfaced, tested, and adjusted in real time.
There were genuine breakthrough moments:
People finding their voice
Others learning to step back
New ways of leading, collaborating and influencing emerging
Somewhere between “I’m finding this tough” on Day 1 and “We’ve got this” on Day 2, real leadership growth took hold.
Day 3 – Ownership & Growth
By Day 3, something had shifted.
The same individuals who arrived cautiously were now stepping forward with confidence, clarity, and intent.
Communication became more direct. Feedback became more valuable. Leadership presence was fully on show.
No one was learning anything that wasn’t already within them. This was discovery, not theory. And people liked what they were discovering about themselves.
Standout Moments
A powerful “heavy feedback” session that truly paid off
Quiet voices becoming strong, confident contributors
Genuine team cohesion emerging under pressure
Laughter throughout; often exactly when it was needed most
Not always comfortable. But always valuable.
Key Leadership Takeaways
Leadership is behaviour, not title
Confidence is built through action, not theory
Self-awareness is the foundation of influence; feedback the foundation of self-awareness
Collaboration beats mistrust; team unity beats individual performance
Authenticity builds followership
The best leaders step forward before they feel ready
Recognition
A special mention goes to our Camp Gold Award winner, Dan White (British Steel), recognising the individual who travelled the greatest distance on their leadership journey across the three days.
This wasn’t about being the loudest or most experienced. It was about growth, self-awareness, and the willingness to embrace change.
Final Reflection
In just three days, individuals moved from hesitation to action, from uncertainty to clarity, and in some cases from chaos to control.

Ultimately everyone discovered their Leadership Brand; actively demonstrating Leadership. But what stood out most on this Camp wasn’t just the learning or even the transformation.
It was the camaraderie.
The teamwork. The friendships. The energy that comes when good people come together and push each other to be better.
That’s where the real magic happens.
What Next?
The Camp may be over, but the work is just beginning.
Delegates return to their organisations with:
Greater self-awareness
Increased confidence
A clearer leadership identity
And the responsibility to apply what they’ve learned
The opportunity now is to build on that momentum.
Meanwhile, the next cohort is already forming, with applications open for our June Camp (16th–18th) at Center Parcs Woburn Forest.
Thank you, Class of May 2026 — winners all.
